Star Clusters are groups of stars that are bound together in a gravitational relationship. Two distinct types of star cluster occur - globular clusters are tight groups of hundreds of thousands of very old stars, while open clusters generally contain less than a few hundred members, and are often very young.

Globular clusters often appear as small nebulae through a small telescope because of the tightness of the stars while many open clusters can be observed at their best with the naked eye.
