End of the Truss

End of the Truss

The end of the truss where the dome will rest. The 2x6's are split like this to allow the dome to come further back. This allows the lateral edges of the main dome lip to be out farther laterally. If the 2x6's were together, you would lose about 2 feet of travel and dome clearance.

One thing I may do later is fill in the gap between them - this would really make the truss goof proof as far as the dome lips jumping the truss, but it's almost goof proof already.

Note the piece of 2x4 on the top that acts as a stop for the dome so you don't have to be too careful in the dark.
