The region of the Horsehead Nebula is actually a mixture of many types of nebulae.
The Horsehead itself is known as Barnard 33 (B 33). The red background is the emission nebula IC 434, the reflection nebula NGC 2023 and the emission nebula are NGC 2024 also visible.
This image is not great, but was taken while I was learning to autoguide and do astrophotography. I think I'll keep it here for historical reference.
