NGC 3953 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Ursa Major at a distance of 56 million light years. The tightly wound spiral structure spans about 111,000 light years (about 10% larger than the Milky Way). NGC 3953 belongs to the Ursa Major North galaxy group, which consists of 32 galaxies, including the dominant M109 (NGC 3992).
